Warmer, tho' snow is still everywhere

It was 47 degrees yesterday but other than melting some snow on roofs, the snow still looks just like it did a week ago. There is still at least 6-7 inches remaining in yards and fields around our area. We are expecting the next week to be in the high 40s and perhaps some rain. The rain will do more to rid us of the snow than anything else, so bring it on!

Medical Day

DH and I went to a pulmonary specialist yesterday to go over DH's chest xray (taken during his physical on 12/28/10)and a ct scan he had on 12/29/10. This Dr. still could not determine the nature of a nodule found on the xray so is sending DH to have a PET CT on the 20th. We are praying for good news from this next scan and believe that is what we will receive.

SNOW, SNOW & MORE SNOW

It started snowing Sunday night around midnight leaving 8" of snow the next morning. It was beautiful but now is annoying. My car (Volvo because the Lexus is in the hospital for what I hope is only to replace the oil control valve) is buried so I won't be going out again today (for the 3rd day in a row). We shoveled the driveway yesterday so DH could get out to go to the DR. for a prednisone shot for bronchitis.

DH went to work today. Now I am wondering if that was a good idea............since he left a couple of hours ago, it has been snowing again with perhaps an inch or two of new snow on the previously shoveled "snow free" driveway.

My Dad

My dad, Albert, died (August 28, 2010)Saturday morning at 7:30. He was 87 years old. Until April of this year, he was walking one to three miles everyday (for the past 19 years since my Mom died).

First Frost of 2009

The first frost of the 2009 season this morning. The windshields are covered with it....but am hoping that it didn't do much damage to the plants yet. I didn't cover a thing last night. I had not really expected it to frost last night but should have known better.

Susie

We lost our wonderful little Susie this evening. She was 16 years old. She had been doing really well until yesterday when she showed no interest in eating. Susie ate four times a day and would have eaten more if you'd give it to her.....so I knew this was not a good sign. That little seven pound dog loved to eat. She was much loved and will be missed so badly. It's funny what we call our pets sometimes other than their names, such as DH called her "Moo", and I'd call her "TuTu" quite often. There is no rhyme or reason as to these names other than they just happened.

Summer in Full Swing

The very last of the large daylilies are finishing their display. I really hated to see them go this year. Finally for the first year, I have them all in the same garden planted up the side of the back garden.
